Filler Is Not a Skincare Step
More volume does not always mean more beauty.
Dermal fillers can be used to add volume or improve the appearance of certain facial lines, scars or areas of volume loss.
But filler is a medical procedure, not another step in your skincare routine.
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) notes that dermal fillers carry risks ranging from temporary swelling and bruising to rare but serious complications, including accidental injection into a blood vessel that can lead to tissue death, vision problems or stroke.
This is why the conversation before treatment matters.
Before considering filler, ask
- What problem are we trying to solve?
- Why filler?
- What product is being used?
- Where exactly will it be placed?
- Who is performing the injection?
- What are the possible side effects?
- What happens if I dislike the result?
The FDA recommends choosing a licensed healthcare provider with appropriate training and experience in dermal filler injections and discussing the specific product, treatment area, risks and benefits before the procedure. If a hyaluronic acid filler is suggested, my YVOIRE guide explains what to ask about the product itself.
