A Laser Is Not a Magic Wand

What does a device actually do?

“Laser” can sound like one single treatment. It is not.

Different laser and light technologies are used for different concerns, and results depend on factors such as the condition being treated, the individual’s skin characteristics and the expertise of the person performing the procedure. Some concerns may require a series of sessions rather than a single appointment.

That means the better question is not, “Which laser is the best?” It is:

Ask

Which treatment is appropriate for my specific concern?

A device should have a purpose. A treatment plan should have a reason. And an expected result should have realistic boundaries.

Before booking, ask

  • What concern are we treating?
  • What can this treatment realistically improve?
  • How many sessions may be required?
  • What is the downtime?
  • What are the risks for my skin type?
  • What happens if the result is different from what I expected?

These questions matter because some laser treatments can produce redness, swelling, pigmentation changes or other complications, and darker skin can be more prone to burns and post-treatment dark marks with some laser procedures. Each of my device guides, from PicoWay to GentleMax Pro, ends with one question to ask your clinic.

Educational content. It does not replace a consultation with a qualified clinician.
